Where to begin?
I work in the uni up the road from the NHM so I know the area reasonably well. Fortunately there's some good stuff within farting distance of S Ken tube station.

For a good pub, try the Hoop and Toy. Of the few good pubs in that area, it's the easiest one to find and should satisfy your needs.

There's also a nice little Italian just outside the station. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but if you go out of the main entrance (as opposed to the subway) and turn left, it's just opposite the nearest bus stop. If you're interested in something cheaper, then Little Japan and the Oriental Canteen do half-decent Asian food very cheaply and there's usually a little waitress eye-candy in the former.

You may also spot a sign for the all-you-can-eat buffet in The Paper Tiger. If you value your digestive system, DO NOT BE TEMPTED. Unless, of course, you're a huge fan of cornflour and deep-fried, battered onion and cauliflower. So many onions... /shudders

Feel free to gaz me if you want any further info.

PS If it's set underwater, is King Kong allowed scuba-diving gear?

The Hoop and Toy is alright
But the food in the Queen's Arms (Queen's Gate Mews) is better.

Yeah,
but it's harder to find. And you may be confronted with a line of undergrads being ID'ed before you can get anywhere near the bar. Food is excellent, though.
