Anyone know any good pubs or places to eat round there? (Kensington's not really my thing on account of being common as shit and from the Midlands).
Alternatively, who would win in a fight between King Kong and a giant squid?
Cheers

dragged King King into the sea then I think he'd have him. However I can imagine king kong would be a whizz in the kitchen destroy squidy and make delicious calamari for all his other monster friends.

if the squid was wearing some kind of breathing apparatus with mechanical legs and came out onto land, well, my hard-earned would be on squiddy...

Land based, the gorilla wins...But I love the image of him making calamari for his monster buddies!

I thought you said "Hong Kong". I'm going daft.
However, Bayswater is not too far from there so you should be able to find something to munch on.

That area's a real blind spot for me in my Landan knowledge - not enough vomit and prostitues...

there's a Carluccio's, a Brindisa (tapas place), a couple of noodle bars, a sushi place, an india, a thai, and a french-style bistro. All less than 5 mins walk from the Nat Hist Museum.
Edit: King Kong.

Knew I could rely on you lot on this here website thing (rather than actually getting off my lazy arse and finding out for myself).
Cheers.

go to london-eating.com, and you can search for restaurants by area/tube station/postcode. Nearest tube is South Ken, but there are some nice little pubs in side streets towards Knightsbridge too.

But I prefer this one
Squid would win for sure.

Toptable are aces as well as they do great offers on posh food.

In water or on land?
We should arrange it for a shallow pond, even things up a bit. More convenientfor seating, too.

I'd say knives and knuckle (or tentacle) dusters would be fine, but guns would be a no-no...

Given enough the Kong would come out on top I says, lets make it happen!

Though a squid's got ink, so that skews it a bit. Can King Kong have a flick knife?
( , Thu 28 May 2009, 11:18, Reply)

Kong's opposable thumbs are going to really give him an advantage. I've seen squids take the lids off jam jars, but that's not going to be much help.
Unless he could get a King Kong-sized jam jar...
*is worried about the level of thought I'm giving this*

I work in the uni up the road from the NHM so I know the area reasonably well. Fortunately there's some good stuff within farting distance of S Ken tube station.
For a good pub, try the Hoop and Toy. Of the few good pubs in that area, it's the easiest one to find and should satisfy your needs.
There's also a nice little Italian just outside the station. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but if you go out of the main entrance (as opposed to the subway) and turn left, it's just opposite the nearest bus stop. If you're interested in something cheaper, then Little Japan and the Oriental Canteen do half-decent Asian food very cheaply and there's usually a little waitress eye-candy in the former.
You may also spot a sign for the all-you-can-eat buffet in The Paper Tiger. If you value your digestive system, DO NOT BE TEMPTED. Unless, of course, you're a huge fan of cornflour and deep-fried, battered onion and cauliflower. So many onions... /shudders
Feel free to gaz me if you want any further info.
PS If it's set underwater, is King Kong allowed scuba-diving gear?

But the food in the Queen's Arms (Queen's Gate Mews) is better.

but it's harder to find. And you may be confronted with a line of undergrads being ID'ed before you can get anywhere near the bar. Food is excellent, though.

Godzilla vs Giant Squid?
( , Thu 28 May 2009, 10:50, Reply)

before or after the Giant Squid has polished off King Kong?
( , Thu 28 May 2009, 10:52, Reply)

There'd be a lake of gorilla cum if anyone or anything took King Kong in hand and *ahem* polished him off...
( , Thu 28 May 2009, 10:57, Reply)

The squid may be able to temporarily blind Kong by squirting ink all over him, but could Kong more permanently blind - or even drown - the squid by cumming in its eye?
( , Thu 28 May 2009, 11:00, Reply)

...but I imagine King Kong is packing the sort of donger that's roughly the same dimensions as a single decker coach...
... Its a close call, but I think in a bodily fluids used in anger contest, I'd go for the hairy one...
