Not strictly a person...but I always thought "Schindler" was an interesting name for a company that makes lifts.

That onealways amuses me too. First noticed it in a hotel in Liechtenstein, of all places, whereupon I remarked to my mate, "Hey Dave, look - this is Schindler's lift!"
