see the little icon next to the title of the post?
The little piece of paper looking thing? Click on that first, then use the URL from it.

Is that the info you are looking for?

Edit: this only works for the original post, not replies to posts (that I know of) and it will show the original post + all the replies (I don't know how to do any different...a bit mong-tastic myself)

Possibly a browser thing?
(Firefox on a mac)
edit: Just saw your edit
I are a mong. Knew it would be obvious

Cheers all...

Linking to a reply
To link to a specific reply in a QOTW post, view the HTML source of the page and look for a line similar to the following above the start of the post you want to link to - for example, to link to the first reply in this thread, you'll want to look for this:

<div class="post2" style="padding-left: 60px;" id="qotw-post-434913">

Using the URL of the page, add a '#' and then the bit in italics above (which contains the post number) to the end of the URL. You'll end up with the following:

http://www.b3ta.com/questions/offtopic/post434909#qotw-post-434913

This is the URL you should link to.

And here's a tip, if using Firefox, select the start of the message you want to link to and the end of the previous message and from the right-click menu, chose "view selection source". This will open the source-window with the qotw-post-xxxxxx anchor you want to copy amongst the highlighted text.

To make things easier, if the reply you want to link to is your own, copy the URL you are taken to as soon as you've submitted your post. You'll find it's the same as the one you'll get by following the above instructions.
