The term Global Warming is inaccurate
Climate Change is what you're after. By and large the weather is warmer but the most prominent effect is more extreme weather. You know the sort, the kind of weather that likes to take it to max and use words like gnarly and bodacious.

Global warming is still correct
because on average, the world is getting warmer.

But some places could get colder. It's just a global average. Likewise, total precipitation will increase with the temperature rise, as more water is evaporated from the oceans and it has to fall somewhere. But areas which already have water shortages are likely to get worse.

Bummer, eh?
