Borders had a whole class of shoppers called fifty quid man
Fifty quid being the amount of money they felt they could get away with spending without being nagged too much by the wife. It would cover two or three CDs and a book or two.

It was blokes going there on a friday afternoon after having been to the pub at lunchtime.
