I'm sure they already know that it's a virus,
so they need to work out how to make a antiviral that flags cells with the approriate protien antigens from the flu. They know what they're doing.

they've already got two,
tamiflu and renoxil (sp)

but antivirals are counterproductive on a large scale and should only be used for short term containment, that time has passed.
