Or, alternativly, dispite it being a large sum, it's probably less than the desposit she would lose if she moves out. suddenlyPlus she'ld still owe* the cash.
Plus she'ld cost her parents a few bob, not that they'ld probably mind, but they'ld be financially (if nothing else) better just giving her the cash.
Plus her dad really has his heart set on turning her room into a pool room.
* or not owe, depending on the bank/finacial ombud/blah blah.
