This weekend I...
Played a gig.
Went to London.
Slept on my mate's floor. Twice.
Had lunch at a Wimpy.
Picked a metric fuck-ton of fruit and veg.
Played a nice chunk of Resident Evil 5 on Co-Op.

how was your gig?

I enjoyed it!

(, Mon 17 Aug 2009, 9:33, Reply)
that's the main thing
how did the audience find it?
(, Mon 17 Aug 2009, 9:34, Reply)
It was really good
and i'm not just being nice, I really enjoyed it. It was incredibly loud though, none of us could hear properly afterwards.

that's cool
I've got a couple of the tracks on my computer at home and enjoy them when they come on. listening to one last night and I thought it'd be good live.

extreme loudness can be issue. there's a fine balance to be had. obviously it needs to be loud, but there comes a point when it can honestly be called ridiculously loud, and not a lot of sound engineer type people seem to be able to identify when that is.

Yeah, the Sound Engineer didn't seem to believe in "Moderate Volume".
I was fine on the stage, the Monitors were pretty quiet.

that's good
we've had times (friday before last) when the monitors were so insanely loud, and we couldn't get the bugger to turn them down. lights were bright as fuck too, and really close so we were all drowning in sweat.

Sounds pretty annoying!
It was fucking hot on that stage, and it was tiny. Low ceiling, my head was nearly touching it.
(, Mon 17 Aug 2009, 9:50, Reply)
yeah, places with low ceilings are a pain
the size of stage is an issue a couple of places we play, mainly because a double bass player takes up a lot of room

we played in a marquee with two open sides on friday. the sound was really good.

Yeah!
Got some good feed-back from people.
My rhythm guitarist's parents were there, and they said "It was very loud. Even louder than when we saw Neil Young."

good stuff
the people we played to on friday night were absolutely shit-faced by the time we finished playing. it's nice to be told you are good, but drunk people slurring it at you for 10 minutes gets tiresome.

"you'rrrereere rreaalllly gooood you know"
"thanks!"
"no, youuuu'rre reeallly goood"

repeat ad nauseum
