I'm a tech support monkey
Picked up the phone to an American guy we have working for us in Ireland. I asked him to get something for me and he said, "Hang on a sec, English, I'll just get it for you". Obviously, as a Brit of the old school, I'm used to saying things to people such as "Hey you, Indian. Bring me my slippers." and so on, but I had thought that the use of "English" as a personal pronoun only existed in the world of television.

What has happened to you recently that you thought was made up/an urban myth/a lie?
