What're you using to put it together?

It all goes through a 16 track desk
into a Boss digital recorder then into laptop with Cubase*. I'm just getting involved in the writing, arrangement and playing though, my compadre knows how to use all the gear very well, so me doing it seems unnecessary

*think it's cubase anyway

I used to use Cakewalk Sonar for live audio and Reason for beats and synths.
Then my mate moved to China and I lost my collaboration partner and kinda fell out of it. I'd love to get back into it again.

Me too
My engineer and I fell out massively and that was 'career over'.

High point: playing some guitar parts for a Siouxsie and the Banshees remix project.

it's been even more enjoyable than I thought it'd be
we're both really enthused about it because the first few sessions have gone so well. We're on the same wavelength which is really cool. Having someone with all the hardware and the ability to use it is a massive help obviously!

Definitely.
Keep up the motivation, especially if you eventually end up going your separate ways. Find someone to bounce off, to work with. Without it, it's so, so easy to let it all go.

It's actually one of my biggest ever regrets.

we've been too busy to do anything for the last couple of weeks
so things have died down a little, but if the surf is no good this weekend then we'll be having a good session on saturday. need to come up with the rock bit though! and some proper hardcore electro stuff.

I look forward to hearing it.
I think I might put a notice up in the local music shop looking for collaborators. It's about time I did something constructive with fifteen years of guitar, ten years of singing and five years of electronic messery.

it's well worth it
you are bound to find some like-minded individuals.

our project came out of a stoned conversation suggesting we collaborate, then firing ridiculous names at each other. I came up with The Red Squirrel / Grey Squirrel Scenario, and things went on from there...
