My vite goes for the camera magicness suggested by a post on links (linked to in a guardian article here on OT for the lazy)
Much easier than fixing it, and the bit with the crowds was total rubbish (bear in mind that the way he did it even they didnt know what the numbers "predicted" were before the broadcast)

He had total control over the numbers that the crowd "predicted". They were merely a manipulated cinematic device to provide some kind of authenticity to the shenanigans.

Still not sure how he done it but... Pah!
