Awww I never got Meccano either... *sads*You're right, it was a bit of a 'boys toy'.
I did get a 'boys toy' one Christmas. It was a massive truck and you could pull the drivers head off and fire it out of a catapult on the back of the car - that was a-mazing!! :D

I had Meccanoit was great, but I couldn't build for shit. All my cars ended up looking like giant robot ants
