Im gonna be controversial here too2007 is great once you get used to the different menu/tabs I've had it for 2 years now and wouldn't go back to 2003. Give it a chance.

the important thing here is that I don't want to pay for anythingparticularly as I rarely use it at home. I have to use office 2003 at work so having to get used to 2007 would be a pain in the arse when I'm not using it most of the time.
that said, I may find open office to be annoying as well, but at least it's free
