Just a quick one
I've got a demo version of Office 2007. Came with my newish computer. It's fucking awful.

I need to get something else. Is open office any good? Any alternatives?

I've heard good things about Open Office
but not used it. If I'm honest, my old bent copy of Office 2003 will probably last me until I die.

thanks
can't be arsed with MS stuff if it's not already on my computer. 2007 is a massive piece of shit. so much so that I won't crack it.

last time I tried to install my legit copy of office 2003 it wouldn't let me use my serial number so I broke it in a fit of rage.

open office is ok,
it'll take some getting used to though.

it'll be used very rarely
basically just need to be able to add text to the odd document for my chartered engineer stuff, or to do a simple money spreadsheet.

thanks

I use Open Office
(well Neo Office but it's much the same).
I find it does everything Office can but without pissing me off all the time.

I am downloading it as we speak

Office 2007 is great. It just takes a little time to get used to the layout and features. Drag your ass out of the dark ages and catch up with the rest of the world. You probably drive a fucking Anglia too!

Tell me
You're one of the people who says we shouldn't have a choice within Vista to go back to the XP style start menu?

The one who believes all UI changes are improvements and people should "get with the program", instead of leaving alone what may not neccessarily work in the most efficient manner, but people are very much used to?

Incidently - I do think that the ribbon is a great UI idea from when I first encountered it in AutoCAD 2007. It's just that it doesn;t work for everyone.

Not at all. I just think O2007 is way better than O2003. As do most people who have used it for a little while.

Im gonna be controversial here too
2007 is great once you get used to the different menu/tabs I've had it for 2 years now and wouldn't go back to 2003. Give it a chance.

the important thing here is that I don't want to pay for anything
particularly as I rarely use it at home. I have to use office 2003 at work so having to get used to 2007 would be a pain in the arse when I'm not using it most of the time.

that said, I may find open office to be annoying as well, but at least it's free
