Sure.
Basically, it's ronseal- if you have something really good potentially coming to you and you say something about it along the lines of "Hey, guess what? I've got a line on the coolest job ever!" it will invariably not work out. If you talk about something you're really hopeful about, somehow it will go tits up. If you tell people that you plan on your life going in a particular direction and you're formulating plans based on that, inevitably something will change to make it not come to be.
