Top o' the morning to you Spak
It's Friday and for some reason I am sifting through final year work from uni.

Good morning to you too
Have spent most of the day asleep, so for me it's still sort of morning.

So, your degree is actually coming in handy in the real world?

I think it's more that I'm just on a massive nostalgia kick.
I don't think I'll ever need a translation of Grace by James Joyce into Italian again so why the fuck am I reading it?

I will be spending most of tomorrow sleeping. And Sunday :)

Most of my degree didn't prepare me for the real world
I think my course was more aimed at turning me into an academic.

As was mine.
Fuck reviews and reports and stats and customers, give me a library and a deadline and a pile of books about Jean-Luc Godard! And lots of coffee.

I escaped the stranglehold academia had on me.
I read some books relevant to my career and kept applying for jobs. Managed to get on to my chosen career in the end, but most of the work I do is more down to my self-study than my degree. Though I Still enjoyed Uni.

I only miss uni sometimes.
Like remembering I was a fresher five years ago now. Scary times.
(, Fri 9 Oct 2009, 20:09, Reply)
Took me a while to get used to not being at uni
Although a long jobhunt probably stopped me from moving on.

Mine was relatively short
and because of circumstances I stopped being a student sooner than I wanted to, hence why I often wish I could go back.
