iTunes is what I have to use, sadly, since I am an Apple whore and have one of those shiny iPods... it does the job but it crashes every time Do You Think I'm Sexy by N-Trance* comes up on shuffle.

try changing the randomness setting?

I've never used a Mac beyond occasionally checking my emails at uni in Switzerland (there were no PCs on the entire campus, it was Mac or nothing) so am not used to them at all!

I like iTunes when it does what I want it to do; it's just occasionally the shuffle spacks out and decides I'll listen to what it wants me to listen to. Never fun!

Perhaps you should try re-encoding that mp3 and see if it still crashes.
