It's risk avoidance
There's no point putting blood in one person then giving someone a mix of more blood and again and again.

There may be a blood bourn disease that we don't know about yet and can't test for. Mixing peoples blood over and over is a bad thing and it keeps a sort of audit trail for blood so it's easier to find anyone who is at risk a lot quicker.

I think thats arse, not clever.
They gave me blood from several different people and there is no trace of that blood in me anymore. If I gave blood it would be all mine not a mix and it would still be screened for disease.
