story here www.b3ta.com/questions/blood/post217647 in case you care. but My question is this, if the blood they gave me is supposed to be clean and screened etc. why can't I return the favour and give blood myself? Any clever b3tans know? The blood service people didn't even know last week.

and yet keep cocking up my appointment to go and give it to them.
why don't I go without an appointment I hear you cry?
because there are so many people around here seemingly desperate to give blood that they can't cope.

There's no point putting blood in one person then giving someone a mix of more blood and again and again.
There may be a blood bourn disease that we don't know about yet and can't test for. Mixing peoples blood over and over is a bad thing and it keeps a sort of audit trail for blood so it's easier to find anyone who is at risk a lot quicker.

They gave me blood from several different people and there is no trace of that blood in me anymore. If I gave blood it would be all mine not a mix and it would still be screened for disease.
