A bit late...However, with me being a West Country lad, I can assure you that liquid apples are the way forward.
Get yourself some good qualty cloudy cider and you'll be able to enjoy both steak and apples in a glass (a lot of farmer will throw meat in with the apples to help the furmentation process, there was a farm on the A38 that once advertised 'cider - not suitable for vegetarians).
