The worst that can happen is that you don't get it and waste half an hour - hopefully of your employer's time - preparing the paperwork.
But I'm assuming you've heard of the Peter Principle? Your not thinking you're ready is thereby neither here nor there.

I don't know of the Peter principle, I must admit!
You alright now, good sir?

The policeman came this evening, and was a bit meh about the whole thing - and I do wonder whether I overreacted.
But I was quite trembly about it.
The Peter Principle, just in case, says that people get promoted until they're in a job they can't do - on the basis that if you can do it, you'll get promoted. This is why most institutions are run by imbeciles: the non-imbeciles have taken a better offer elsewhere, where they've become imbeciles in their own right.
Cunning, eh?

Not to mention the amount of previous that was dug up on the guy; you expect that kind of thing if you piss off 4chan, but not here!
I like this idea; it accounts for a lot of the middle-management I have dealt with throughout my life (especially Dell when trying to get them to actually show up with my PC; I had to use the Voice "if you can't do this, then I want to be escalated to your manager." ... who said the same thing.) By this logic, I could go pretty far!
