Shall I get you a ticket then?
In the next two weeks I have a 40k cheque coming my way. It's to pay off my horrible loans and cards but I shall treat myself to a bit of splurge and don't mind one iota cutting you in on the deal.

hmm, a thursday too. I'm planning a long holiday a week or so after so will need to check the leave situation as well.
I'm touched by the offer though

If you fancy it just let me know - I'll buy the tickets in around a fortnight, and I'll give you a nudge just before I do.

if I can't make this one it'd be good to tie a visit in with another gig, so I'll keep my eyes on what's coming up.
Discovered the other day that Monster Magnet are touring in December, all midweek (no leave left) and nowhere near me. Fucking gay.

and thus Gong/Hillage the night before is looking decidedly iffy.
Gong I've seen loads of times, but Hillage only picked up a guitar again last year (after a 20-odd year break doing ambient dance stuff) and that was with Gong, so the opportunity to see his solo stuff is something I never thought I'd ever have the chance to see. He's in my top three guitarists ever, without doubt.

I'm currently bored by almost everything I've listened to all weekend. Apart from Tool, or in fact anything involving Maynard from Tool.
or Clutch.

Gong can be a bit silly (in a whimsical psychedelic way) at times but the musicianship is exemplary.
My tips:
GONG:
Gong Live Etc
You (the third and best instalment of the Flying Teapot series)
Camembert Electrique
Floating Anarchy
beware Pierre Moerlen's Gong which they morphed into in the late 70s, dull noodly jazz rock. Shamal being a bad but ty[pical example.
HILLAGE:
Fish Rising (utterly brilliant, an all time favourite)
Live Herald
Green
Live at Deeply Vale
Germany 77 (DVD - brilliant)
avoid his 80s stuff. He was right to pack it in and go ambient by then.
