Yup, that's pretty much what I did.
I waited a few minutes to see if anyone came back but nope. It only occurred to me afterward that the machine probably would have retrieved the money had I not taken it out of the slot. I feel a bit guilty but, well, fifty quid is fifty quid and it's come in VERY handy.

I left a tenner in one the other week and the fella behind me was good enough to chase me down and hand it back to me so I would feel extra guilty for wheeking a fifty.

I'd have gone after them. I do feel a bit guilty, but later I'll feel full of chicken so it's swings and roundabouts innit.
