After Chrimbo, in the sales

If the TV dies before Christmas, you'll have to get off your arse and fork out.
EDIt: Is it TV or tv?

We have a portable colour tv at my folk's place that still makes that noise twenty years after it started.
A satisfying thump on the case sorts it out.

Really?
Once I start thumping something I normally only get another month out of it.

It's TV but really shouldn't be.
It should be T.

Yeah
but I thought I read somewhere that 'tv' was the closest to proper.
But I may have read it on a toilet wall in The North...

D'you know what, having read that back
I haven't a fucking jar of glue myself.
What I think I meant was, try to wait until January, because bargains will be even better.
However, have some money set aside, and be prepared to buy sooner, should the television 'pass away' before that.

wouldn't even be considering it if we hadn't already got a reasonably substantial pot of savings already

I think you may be my favourite poster*
You have a way with words that I find eminently charming.
*even more so than that Athena 70's tennis bird scratching her arse one.
