I've heard an originalnot sure which version but I'll do a search tonight.
But given the completely different styles, I'm not really that much into country - the original (that I heard) just seems fairly meek by comparison. But then again most voices do compared to our Joe ;)

The original's toughermore Buddy Holly than country really.
It's on one of the Pebbles compilations I think.
