I love hummus, b ut I'm bored of spending money on it so i decided to make my own. Unfortunately i tried to do this with tinned chick peas, the resulting mush seriously tasted of chunder.
I think I'll try proper dried chick peas next time...

and then dry them too in a clean tea towel. This will result in less sloppyness.

You could do the chilli thing, but I rather like the corriander and lemon juice variant.
