They all went outside one night, and Waters' gargantuan conk blocked out the moon...

pretensions and song meaning etc. aside, there is some fantastic music on that album. Rick Wright really had some talent.
The odd thing I find with them is that they are all so middle class. seems unusual.

We've had this chat before but I was amazed at how decent a guy Gilmour is. I always had him pegged as a usurper but the work he put into Barrett's solo stuff simply to help out an old mate was really touching. All the music behind Barrett's acoustic ramblings on his solo LPs was added afterwards under the aegis of Gilmour. They had nightmares because it's all out of time.
Brilliant, brilliant records though.

his 78 (I think) solo effort had some gems on it, and the Live in Gdansk performance is out of this world.
His guitar-gurning makes me feel better about my own as well.
I was unaware that he helped out with Barrett's stuff, what a nice chap.
One of the interesting things they were saying last night is that after Dark Side was so successful they were like "what next? we're rich and famous, that's the dream, now what?"
the answer is clearly: drugs, and more drugs!
this is where my band would fall apart.

you can still do that even if you got nowhere - just look at Winchester's premier psychedelic funk band 'Electric Head Funk'...

two of my band claimed to be giving up pot this year
needless to say they have collapsed under the relentless toking schedule set by our singer and I at band practices.
I fucking love that name. can't beat a good band name. At some point I intend to form a heavy metal folk band called the Crackhouse Ceilidh Band (if she lets me).
