My great uncle had a guardhouse at the entrance to his housefor fear of assassination.
He was a politician though.
EDIT just searched for him on Wiki. He was a really GOOD politician. He was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Ireland, then was appointed a Judge of the European Court of Justice. Fuck.
