I know this might sound unhelpful
But stop, right now, don't make a date or a plan to cut down or any stuff like that. Act like you have just crashed on a desert island and there simply aren't any cigarettes. The first two weeks will be hell on earth but once you've got through them it gets easier everyday rather than harder. A year after doing this I tried a cigarette and puked, I will never smoke again. 20-30 a day to zero. It was tough but so worth it. Also you have to really want to. My inspiration was the birth of my daughter. You sound like you want to so I would say just do it. Next time you want to go for a smoke, don't. Don't make an excuse saying you'll quit another day, just quit right now.

Yeah, this
If you set a date, it's because you don't really want to give up and are giving yourself some extra smoking time before you have to think about it again.
