Do you not think 'why have I done this?' What's the underlying problem here?

It's not even like you made up some self-aggrandising personality - just an amiable American.

What do you think is so terribly wrong with your actual personality that leads you to hide behind the guise of another person? I know this makes me a terribly naive internetter but I just don't understand.
