I was working in a sports shop when I was 15 (Saturday lad)
He was there with Converse to do a signing (shoes, decks, t-shirts and stuff). Anyway...

As the only skater on the team (there were only about 5 of us, it was a bit of a coup to get him at all) I was asked if I'd help him with a demo.

And that's what I did. We went to Vicky Park in Bath, all I had to do was to drop in the half pipe there and 'rock and roll' (god knows what it's called these days) whilst he 'aired' over me.

He complimented me on my kick-flip ollies (on the flat) and spent 20 minutes trying to teach me to heel-flip (I never managed it).

A lovely bloke.

EDIT: This is when he was mostly known for 'freestyle' - but he could do anything, vert, street or freestyle.
