I usually ask for close up photos
especially of the labels (if they're designer) and obviously stuff with tags/proof of purchase is especially good

yup
especially since although I do like designer clothing, I'm not a fashionista. I buy stuff that is pretty much undatable and not really very 'in' or 'out' for a decent price, and mix it with normal clothing

I'm the opposite.
I'd love to be like you with undatable. But I buy 'cutting design', once every 20 years and wear it when it has gone out of style.
