We did one for my Mum's 60th.
Which was fantastic. She is one of eleven children so it was a great opportunity to get all of them together. I think that it's good that you're starting early. Try and get an idea of numbers as soon as possible and then choose a venue to suit.Holding it away from their home makes it an awful lot easier. Sneak a look at your Mum & Dad's Christmas card list (they're bound to have one) for contact details of those friends that you may not know very well.
