True. Fiction and real life have the ability to be as boring as each other though.

absolutely.
But science fiction generally pisses me off because it's often lazy and demonstrates a lack of imagination.

Rubbish Science fiction is great
because they can get away with saying whatever they want. See Dune and the metaphor for Oil and Islamic resistance/Jihad. BSG during the wars in Iraq and afghanistan had suicide bombers as the good side, they got away with that because they were killing robots.
