Supper's usually the last meal of the dayDinner being the main meal of the day and lunch being a light jobbie between breakfast and dinner. Hence the interchangeability of dinner between afternoon and evening meals.
I usually say supper.
Edit: But that's just because I think dinner sounds horribly prole-ish.
