This is a question Overcoming adversity

The Doveston asks: Have you ever fought back from a terrible illness? Got out of a job that was going nowhere? Secured a great victory against the odds through dishonesty and cheating? Warm our hearts, B3ta

'Twas a week before Christmas
Two years ago.
My best friend Richard Głowa
decided too "Choose Life"
he would say "No".

He went as he came
with not a bang but a fizzle
and after his separation
he certainly liked
getting wet his newly single wizzle.

When your best friend dies
there's a void you can't fill.
In the wake of his death
I even became a friend of Bill.
I hate covering up for some-one elses lies.

His ex didn't want his parents to know
that as far as drugs went,
he was on the down-low.
Even when asked
despite my desire to vent
I didn't tell them that he liked his blow.

& now I find myself 2 years on
wishing I could ignore this certain date
and wanting to say to my dead friend
"I miss you mate."
& wondering if I could've ever changed the fact that he's gone.

EDIT: Not so much overcome, as overwhelmed.

Drugs are bad.
Even the good ones.

Drugs are great.
If your drugs are bad then you're buying shit drugs. You shit drug buyer.

Also ... they're generally better if you stick them up your arse.

I buy my vodka and Hoegaarden from the bottleshop (drive-thru)
and my cigs from the supermarket smoke-shop.

I get my sugar and coffee from "low-cost" shops.

Fascinating. Really.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 18:19, closed)
Well. You brought it up.

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 9:02, closed)
Mmmmm-kay.

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.
Or anywhere else.

Tl;dr;dc

Thank you for taking the time to add your input.

Inserting
lines breaks into
sentences
does not produce
poetry.
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:17, closed)
Not even if you use the word "'Twas"?

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:38, closed)
Are you
Absolutely sure
About that?
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:40, closed)
That was rubbish, now do it again, in iambic pentameter.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:30, closed)
Thanks for the post, T S Eliot.

This doesn't clear up the mystery of the missing mods though does it?
I mean WHERE THE FUCK are they?
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:50, closed)
Especially when you consider how happy they were with their step hammer earlier in the year.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:54, closed)
Positively ecstatic about it, I heard.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:58, closed)
What does this vacuous dribble have to do with shoving things up your arse?

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 8:58, closed)
I'm starting to see what grundig had to say about
the "bonobos smearing their faeces on the wall to get the attention they crave."

I walk away for about an hour (swim in the pool with the daughter) and look at what I come back to.
Jesus, "flies on shit" is a compliment to you guys.
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:14, closed)
You walked for an hour to get to the swimming baths?
Why didn't you drive your 'ute', you dag?
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:19, closed)
Thicko. I own a house with a swimming pool.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:46, closed)
Wow, you really walk slowly, you bogan.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:48, closed)
Surely you've come to expect it, though?

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:25, closed)
Yes.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 9:45, closed)
I read this comment and thought "that's a fair assessment of this dire post"
then I saw you're the same cunt that posted this godawful poem. How disappointing.
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 11:08, closed)
I'm sure you'll get over it.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 11:10, closed)
Don't listen to them.
I actually really like this. It's heartfelt, it's meaningful and it's got something worth saying. The naysayers have no idea how hard it is to write decent comedy poems.
(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 10:08, closed)
He doesn't have an idea either.

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 10:17, closed)
Hey, I've got another joke you can stamp all over too, if you want...

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 10:30, closed)
Go on then

(, Mon 17 Dec 2012, 10:34, closed)
Thank you.
