I too used to think like that
Then I went to the trouble of cleaning up properly and kept the change that I found lying about on the floor- just the occasional pound coin, 50p, 1p, 2p, etc.

£174.54. Which was promptly stuck in the bank and then partly splurged on a night out. £6 of that was in 1ps and 2ps. I'm surprised I didn't have copper flooring...
