The midlands (024) have a three digit one as well.

This really, really gets on my tits too, especially working in a call centre for a certain British Telecommunications provider - I give London numbers out as 020 7xxx xxxx and I've sometimes had people correct me. This is why I want a button on my turret to electrocute morons on the other end of the line (customers or colleagues, I'm not going to discriminate).
