I used to get Lego every year for birthday and Christmas and make the thing in the instructions straight away.

THEN I would dismantle and build something else with the bits, and that was when the fun began. Something that generally had 15 more guns on it (that wouldn't be hard because in my day Lego spaceships didn't have ANY guns) and lots of big engines and - of course - rubber hoses. Good times.
