My pennorth - most relationships are pathological in some way, and many begin to break up from the moment they begin because the two people are incompatible. It takes two people who are able and willing to communicate from the outset, though it might take a long time to reach a point where that's possible. Staying together for sex or convenience is always a mistake. And it's a case of being two individuals together, rather than two people submitting their individuality to be together.
