This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

How not to cure a fear of needles
I've always hated injections - although I doubt that anyone at all actually likes them. Still, I decided a couple of years ago that I ought to tame my dislike, and so volunteered to give blood. Not because I think it's an admirable thing to do - it is, but that wasn't my motivation. My motivation was that it was a regular, albeit infrequent, means of having a needle put into my arm. Gradually, I would become inured.

I was even prepared to watch the needle go in. It's not someting I plan ever to watch again.

but did you watch
the blood coming out?

I'm not allowed to give blood anymore because I'm perpetually dosed up on lithium - in fact, I get more blood tests than I could want because of that. Bah, I only went for the tea and the custard creams anyway.

...
I've no problem with the exanguination - it's the penetration of the skin that bothers me.

^heh, penetration.
You're just trying to make me hot, right?
*sniggers*
*is hot*

what annoys me though
is that every frickin' time I go for blood tests (every couple of months) I say "it's difficult to find my vein", they say "oooh, we're experts! We'll find it, no problem! Don't worry your little head!" and then they spend 10 mins trying to get a needle into a vein and leave me with huge track marks and bruises because they can't. Dammit.

I have ace veins
They practically cast shadows.

No. What gets me about blood donation is the way that they say it'll be a sharp pricking sensation... and then set about your arm with a rusty chisel.

I am the same with needles
I'd be a shite diabetic.

@K2k6
I also would be a shite diabetic... but not for long.

My medical friends keep offering to teach me to take blood. I want to accept their offer. One day, I will...

I'm not allowed
To give blood either.
Silly medicines.

me neither
or so i am led to believe,

Well
reading this, and the comments, is enough to make me feel faint. I can just about take an injection if i look away, but a blood test! I would literally vomit then faint on the way to the place. Its wierd actually, as i would happily butcher animals, and i dont feel bad at all if i cut myself, i think it's just the medical setting.
