Heights
On there own they hold no fear for me, as I will quite happily press my nose to the window of the top floor of a skyscraper. But being at the top of a climbing wall and getting ready to descend, hoping that the cretin at the bottom doesn't drop me on my head? Now that terrifies me.
Mind you, it doesn't stop me climbing.

Getting my laptop stolen
It's a bit stupid, seeing as I have everything on it backed up, but oh how I would lament my loss.

Getting Stabbed
I don't live in the most salubrious of areas for most of the year. For example, someone in the area got into a car they thought was a taxi one night, had all their clothes stolen and then pushed out onto the pavement.
Therefore, stabbing isn't beyond the realms of possibility, and I really don't think I would find it to be an enjoyable experience.

Essays generally get two back-ups.

Bigger projects generally get three.

Design projects have a good four back-ups, on external hard-drives, USB pens and the interweb.

If only I could back up the paper design projects somehow.

I'd suggest getting a belayer you can trust!
Having said that; I almost broke my legs when my belayer wasn't paying attention and I smacked pretty hard on the floor.

Well as a result there are very few people I will let belay for me, and unfortunately most of them don't like near me.

And if you think that an auto-belay will make it ok, then think again. They are truly terrifying things, one of which resulted in me descending upside down.

what is it about daydreaming belayers?
It's not like they have to concentrate for more than 10 or 20 mins at a time.

Mind you, my climbing partner (the ex-ex) did stop climbing with me because I refused to use ropes. Admittedly, it was stupid of me, but you climb really, really well when you're soloing - because you have to.

Now I can barely get off the ground on a Mod. I really should get back into it.

But
Climbing without ropes is so much better, apart from the coming back down bit if you need to do that.

I also know someone who let their girlfriend belay the first time they went climbing together. He got dropped from about 7 metres and landed on his back.
