Prejudice
"Are you prejudiced?" asks StapMyVitals. Have you been a victim of prejudice? Are you a columnist for a popular daily newspaper? Don't bang on about how you never judge people on first impressions - no-one will believe you.

My gran..
..watching 'The Cosby Show' back in the '80s at her house with my sister.
She'd never seen it before, and after a couple of minutes she said, in a loud voice: 'but...but...they're all NIGGERS!'
Me and my sister crack up laughing at my gran's lack of etiquette. She wasn't being racist; it's just the language her generation used.
'Er, gran, you can't say that anymore'
To which she turns to us and replies in open mouth astonishment..
'but they ARE!'

So your gran wasn't racist...
... though she thought it as shocking that there was a programme which featured only black people who she thought she'd call a derogatory name which was never meant as a term of endearment. My Granddad who fought in the war alongside people of different races wouldn't dream of calling someone a nigger. Admittedly he is not the kindest to ze Germans but it's more playful jibes and he gets on very well with my aunt and her family who stem from there.

allright, she wasn't being overtly racist. I should have said she wasn't bigoted.
And I bet your grandad did then - it was just the term used at the time. Guy Gibson had a black dog called Nigger, and it didn't mean he didn't like the dog.

Yes but...
...that was during the war and he died in '44.
I bet if he was still around in the 1980s and had to get a new dog, he would have called it something less offensive FOR THAT ERA.
