This exact thing happened to me!In Peru, in Lima there was some sort of student protest. I didn't bat them out the way with my passport, but asked politely as possible if I may get past, and upon hearing my accent they exchanged a smirk with each other and parted like the Red Sea. I felt a twinge of British pride there.*
*DISCLAIMER:They probably moved because they equated British Tourist with Pansy, not because of the fierce intimidation brought about by being a member of the Empire.
