I would contact the insurance ombudsman over that one!There is no way a holiday can be seen as essential. Fucking insurance companies.

I already have but,we have to spend 8 weeks arguing with the insurers before they can do anything :(

Too late!You should have made up a fake illness, popped to the GP, got a letter - trip cancelled and 100% of your money back.

I imagine the advice will change soon.France and Austria have apparently told their kin to leave with whatever they can carry! Can't believe that the foreign office will hold out for much longer with similar. Good luck.
