This is a question Question of the Week suggestions

Each week we ask a question. The idea is to generate material that's:

* interesting to read, i.e. we won't get bored of reading the answers after about 10 of them
* not been asked on this site before
* fun to answer

What would you like to ask? (We've left this question open - so feel free to drop in ideas anytime.)

Experiences you've had
that are retrospectively strange and/or funny, for which at the time you had no frame of reference.

Not just sex - I think that was comprehensively covered last week anyway.

For example, when I was in Albania last year I had my eyebrows plucked for the first time ever. By a woman who spoke no English and had two missing fingers. One of the most surreal moments of my life.

oh... BESIDES sex...
Mind's in the gutter right now, can't think of anything EXCEPT surreal things related to sex. I'm sure I can come up with SOMETHING.

For the love of God, why were you in Albania.
It seems such a random place to visit.

I have a friend who's just been to Albania.
To see her sister.

Not long ago, she went to Rwanda - to see the same sister.

I wish my sibling was that interesting.

Well I didn't just go
to get my eyebrows plucked :)

My bro got married to an Albanian girl, so we all went over for the wedding and came back two days later. The whole trip was surreal actually... Fuelled mostly by raki, homegrown tobacco, and tiny little cups of Albanian coffee strong enough to wake the dead. We spoke little Albanian and our hosts spoke little English, but it's amazing how much you can communicate with expression and gesture.* Good times.

* at least I hope they were saying "welcome to our country and we love you as a second family" and not "get used to the scenery as you will be sold into slavery very soon"...
