If I can't be arsed to go to the barbers let my hair grow a bit, I look a little bit like Paul Merton, so I've been told on several occasions. A few years back, in a pub in Leeds, ordering some food, the barman pointed this out to me.
"You don't half look like Paul Merton" he says
"Yeah, he's my older brother" I said. My mates looked at me aghast.
"He's coming up next week to see me and I said I'd take him for a bite to eat." I added.
"Are you bringing him here?" asked my mate getting the same idea I was.
"Possibly, depends on how I feel in half an hour or so". By now, who I assumed to be the manager had wandered over. The barman told him who I claimed to be at which the manager said we could have the food for free and just pay for the drinks.
Result!
