I Quit!
Scaryduck writes, "I celebrated my last day on my paper round by giving everybody next door's paper, and the house at the end 16 copies of the Maidenhead Advertiser. And I kept the delivery bag. That certainly showed 'em."
What have you flounced out of? Did it have the impact you intended? What made you quit in the first place?

Why I quit drugs
An inspirational story by Kaol.
Back when I was 17, doing my A-Levels I used to drink a lot, smoke a lot of weed, and take a fair number of pills.
This was all good and well until once fateful night.
I was sitting at home, feeling pretty rubbish, due to being freshly dumped.
A carload of my friends turned up, decided that they were going to take me out to cheer me up, and managed to persuade me to take a bunch of LSD.
I still to this day have no idea what happened between the moment that the I woke up in hospital, covered in anti-climb paint, covered in cuts and bruises, on a drip.
That's about the most shocking wake-up-call you can have. It was at that point that I quit drugs.
I still drink (some would say a little too much), but that's it.

I hope you quit the anti-climb paint too. God knows what's in that stuff.

I almost wish
something like that had happened to me.
I would have knocked them on the head much sooner if it had.
Instead I just carried on going until I got bored with them.
EDIT: That's a much better answer CHCB... my mood is too sensible for QOTW today.

Yeah,
That fucking paint.
The only way to get it out of your hair is to cut it out.
It's like crude oil crossed with tar, crossed with treacle.

And that's why I don't take LSD
my brain would create a world of pain for me.

I may well have done
But the shock of waking up in hospital is really, really bad.
I don't remember what happened. I'm glad of that though.

I gave up tequila for similar reasons
Hospital 2 days later, on a drip, no memory, massive lump on forehead etc.

Good for you!
I still think drugs should not be taken by anyone under the age of 25. You need a grown up head on your shoulders to handle all of the shit it brings.
But hey ..... better sooner than later.

No, there's also a maximum age limit of 39
if you take drugs past that age your cool will be reduced greatly.

On the topic of drugs...
I remember a few years ago (i was about 15/16) my auntie was goin on about how my cousin is always out of the house and she thinks he might have a new girlfriend. I turned to her and in the most deadpan way imaginable and said:
"Either that or he's developed a smack habit."
I've always been a fan of dark humour.

waking up in hospital is scary
especially if you've got the d.t's and there's a wannabe suicide in the next bed.
serves me fucking right for drinking homebrew whisky.
