This is a question I Quit!

Scaryduck writes, "I celebrated my last day on my paper round by giving everybody next door's paper, and the house at the end 16 copies of the Maidenhead Advertiser. And I kept the delivery bag. That certainly showed 'em."

What have you flounced out of? Did it have the impact you intended? What made you quit in the first place?

Bazza's Post
Reminded me of when I witnessed not one, not two but *seven* waiters all quiting their jobs at once.

~~~~wavy lines~~~~
Way back in the mid 80's I was working at Granada Studios on a one-off job for a lighting company. I was actually half-ligging as it was my then GF's company who were doing the lights - I was just operating one of the spots.
This do was a reward for all the top selling reps of Avon, the door-to-door cosmetic company (they still going?), and there were about 200 middle-aged, over made-up slappers attending. The theme for the gig was "The Avon Way Is Up" sung to that Yazz song "The Only Way Is Up".
Anyway, the day of messing around in Granada studios finished and all the slappers buggered off back to thier hotel to get changed for the "Big Dinner" in the hotels ballroom and we techs ferried our gear up there to light the show.
To this day I thank God that I was in the roof with my spot-light and not down on the floor with the Avon Harpies. It was fucking carnage.
There was a free bar and lots and lots of bottles of wine and within 2 hours it looked like a scene from Caligula. These middle-aged slappers were virtually raping the poor young waiters down there on the floor. One poor bloke was stripped bollock naked and was chased back into the kitchens by a pack of baying Avon reps. And all this was spot-lit by your's truly sitting up in the roof, laughing myself sick while chatting over the head-mic to my GF.
The gig was finally closed down after 7 of the waiters just walked out. Nothing - not threats, bribes or physical violence could persuade any of them to go back into that ballroom.
And people think men are bad when it comes to sexual harrassment? Just see what happens when you put 200 middle-aged women together, away from the husbands and boyfriends and fill them full of drink.
Cheers
Sadly Avon is still going yes! I was once friends with a girl who did the avon stuff. and yup once shes middled aged she would be just like that. Shes a proper man hater!
Avon "ladies"
do have a tendency to go over the top with the make up. The last one who came to our door resembled a drag artist!
Maybe it WAS a drag artist?
I mean, equal opportunities and all that...
Been there myself. Well, almost.
It was actually a womens' bowling league banquet. At the time I was 21 or 22 and thinner than I am now, and waited tables at a place that catered to an older crowd. They had their banquet there, and I was the only male on the waitstaff for that particular group.
They drank. A lot.
After shift I went to get my post shift drink and found a bunch of them pretty well lit sitting out at the bar, and was immediately greeted with "Hey, there's our waiter!" followed by a lot of hugging and kissing and hands on my butt- and elsewhere.
Flattering but scary.
